F&D Love Stories | Jess and Chris McCracken
Every love story is an intimate collection of memories and feelings. A place to return when the world needs a reminder of what is tender and true.
The Foe & Dear team has met many wonderful people who have brought us along in their journey of love.
Jess and Chris are one of those couples.
F&D Love Stories is a feature that shares the experiences of our clients and their lessons in love.
Foe & Dear caught up with Jess and Chris to talk about their early days of dating, their connection to F&D founder Katherine, and how they created custom rings virtually.
How did your relationship begin?
Our relationship actually began as a bit of a secret. We met fourteen years ago while working together in retail. At the time you we're not allowed to date a coworker but we did it anyway. Our secret first date led to the next and us eventually switching stores so we could continue our relationship.
What made you choose Foe & Dear for your special day?
It was a no brainer choosing Foe & Dear for our special day. We have a close bond with the founder Katherine. Both Chris and I have known her longer than we’ve been together.
I see her as a sister and best friend so it was an easy choice to create our rings with Foe & Dear. It was a sentimental process and I’m so proud of what Katherine has accomplished and created. I’m always amazed at everything she and the F&D team creates.
I wanted my ring to be unique and something I had not seen anywhere else. Kat helped me combine all the different diamond shapes I love. I verbalized my vision and Kat made my band come to life.
When did you know they were the one?
As many relationships go, there are highs and lows. We took a mini breather from each other while we were dating but during that time I still wanted to share and experience all those moments with Chris. I knew I couldn’t be without him. The day he asked me to marry him, there was no doubt in my mind.
What was your vision behind your ring designs?
J: I wanted my ring to be unique and something I had not seen anywhere else. Kat helped me combine all the different diamond shapes I love. I verbalized my vision and Kat made my band come to life.
C: I wanted to create a simplistic band that I could personalize. Engraving our wedding date on the inside of the ring was a special way to celebrate our love.
Qualities of your partner that you admire
J: He has a constant drive and positive attitude. His supportiveness in all my crazy ideas, his honesty and constant humour when I need it most is admirable.
C: Her creativity, outstanding patience, and supportive nature. She is very compassionate and authentic.
Advice for people looking to create custom designs for their wedding day
J: If you know exactly what you want, be sure to verbalize or draw it out. Ask lots of questions.
C: Set a budget and let your future wife guide the process of ring creation with you.
